Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2023. Between 5 de December and January 3, 2024, the rainfall pattern remains below climatological levels in the north, south and central regions of the monitored area, with a rainfall deficit on the main course of the Amazon in Brazilian and Peruvian territory, the basins of the Aripuanã, Beni, Branco, Curuá Una, Guaporé, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, Juruena, Madeira, Mamoré, basins on the left bank of the Amazon in the northeast and northwest of Pará, Negro, Purus, Teles Pires, Ucayali, Xingu and the main course of the Solimões. The basins of the Coari, Içá, Iriri, Marañon, Napo, Tefé rivers and the northeast of the state of Amazonas are close to the climatology for the period, with an increase in rainfall volumes, with positive anomalies characterizing the Abacaxis, Japurá, Jutaí and Tapajós river basins. The sub-seasonal multi-model forecast indicates that there will continue to be a precipitation deficit in a large part of the monitored region over the next 2 weeks.
