Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2023. Between April 2 and May 1, 2024, the rainfall pattern remains below climatological levels in the west of the monitored area, with rainfall deficits on the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory, the river basins of the Beni, Coari, Içá, Japurá, Javari, Ji- Paraná, Juruá, Jutaí, Marañon rivers, the basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Pará, Negro, Purus, Tefé, Ucayali and the main course of the Solimões River. In recent weeks, higher volumes of rainfall have been observed over the eastern Amazon, with positive rainfall anomalies characterizing areas of several river basins, currently the river basins of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Curuá Una, Iriri, left bank basins in the northwest of the state of Pará, Napo, Tapajós and Teles Pires characterized by rainfall above climatology. The main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, the basins of the Branco, Guaporé, Juruena, Madeira, Mamoré rivers, the basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas and Xingu, alternating areas with positive and negative anomalies, were considered to have observed rainfall close to the climatology for the period. The multi-seasonal forecast model indicates a predominance of rainfall below the climatology over the Eastern Amazon and a predominance of rainfall above the climatology over the Western Amazon in the coming weeks.
