Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2023. Between May 21 and June 19, 2024, the rainfall pattern remains below climatological levels in a large part of the monitored area, with a precipitation deficit along the course of the Amazon in Peruvian territory and the hydrographic basins of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Beni, Coari, Curuá Una, Guaporé, Içá, Iriri, Japurá, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, Juruena, Jutaí. Madeira, Mamoré, Marañon, river basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas, Napo, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Teles Pires, Ucayali, Xingu and the main course of the Solimões River. In recent weeks, higher volumes of precipitation have been observed over the north and northeast of the monitored area, with the course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory and the basins of the Branco River and the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Pará characterized by positive precipitation anomalies. The basins of the Negro River and the left bank of the Amazon River in the northwest of the state of Pará, alternating areas with positive and negative anomalies, were considered to have observed rainfall close to the climatology for the period. The multi-seasonal forecast model indicates a predominance of rainfall below the climatology in the central and eastern regions of the monitored area, and a predominance of rainfall above the climatology in the north and northwest, in the first week, over the Branco, Negro and Japurá basins.
