Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2024. Between June 3 to July 2, 2025, below-average rainfall in the monitored area resulted in precipitation deficits in the river basins of the Abacaxis, Branco, Coari, Curuá Una, Iriri, Javari, Juruá, Jutaí, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Teles Pires, and the main course of the Solimões River; near-normal rainfall in the basins of the Aripuanã, Beni, Guaporé, Madeira, Mamoré, basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas and in the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará, Negro, Ucayali, and Xingu; rainfall above climatology was observed on the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian and Peruvian territory, river basins of the Içá, Japurá, Ji- Paraná, Juruena, Marañon, and Napo. The multimodel indicates that rainfall below climatology will predominate over the Western Amazon in the coming weeks, characterizing the river basins of the Coari, Içá, Javari, Juruá, Jutaí, Madeira, Mamoré, Marañon, Napo, Purus, Tefé, Ucayali, and the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory. Above-average rainfall is forecast for the extreme north of the region in the Abacaxis, Branco, and Curuá Una river basins, the left bank of the Amazon River in northeastern Amazonas State and northeastern and northwestern Pará State, the Negro River, and the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory.
