Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2024. Between June 17 to July 16, 2025, below-average rainfall in the monitored area resulted in a precipitation deficit over the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory, the watersheds of the Abacaxis, Beni, Coari, Içá, Iriri, Javari, Juruá, Jutaí, Madeira, Marañon, Napo, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Ucayali, and the main course of the Solimões River; rainfall above climatological norms was observed over the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, the Aripuanã, Branco, Ji-Paraná, and Juruena river basins, and the basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in northeastern Amazonas State and northeastern and northwestern Pará State; rainfall close to normal in the Curuá Una, Guaporé, Japurá, Madeira, Negro, Teles Pires, and Xingu river basins. The multimodel indicates that rainfall below climatological norms will prevail over the southern part of the monitored region in the coming weeks, characterizing the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory and the Curuá Una, Iriri, Javari, Juruá, Jutaí, Madeira, Mamoré, Marañon, the left bank basins of the Amazon River in northeastern Pará State, Tapajós, Ucayali, and Xingu; rainfall within the climatology is forecast for the hydrographic basins of the Juruena, Negro, and Teles Pires rivers, the main course of the Solimões River, and the basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas; above- average rainfall is forecast for the Japurá River basin.
