Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2024. Between July 8 to August 6, 2025, below-average rainfall in the monitored area resulted in a precipitation deficit over the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory, the watersheds of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Beni, Coari, Guaporé, Içá, Iriri, Japurá, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Madeira, Mamoré, Marañon, Negro, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Ucayali, and the main course of the Solimões River. There is no forecast for rainfall above climatological norms in the monitored region. rainfall close to normal over the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, the Branco, Curuá Una, Juruá, Juruena, and Jutaí river basins, the basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas and in the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará, Napo, Teles Pires, and Xingu. The multimodel indicates that rainfall above climatological norms will prevail over much of the basin in the coming weeks, concentrated in the central and eastern parts of the monitored region, over the main formers of the Solimões-Amazonas system; rainfall close to climatology over the Guaporé, Mamoré, and Napo river basins: forecast of below-climatological rainfall concentrated over the Rio Branco only in the second week.
