Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2025. Between March 10 to April 8, 2026, below-average rainfall resulted in a precipitation deficit along the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian and Peruvian territories, as well as in the watersheds of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Coari, Curuá Una, Içá, Iriri, Japurá, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, Juruena, Jutaí, Madeira, the left-bank basins of the Amazon River in northeastern Amazonas State and northeastern Pará State, Napo, Negro, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Teles Pires, Xingu, and the main course of the Solimões River; above-normal rainfall recorded in the Branco and Ucayali river basins; near- normal rainfall recorded in the Beni, Guaporé, Mamoré, and Marañon river basins and the left-bank basins of the Amazon River in the northwest of the state of Pará. The multimodel indicates, for the period from March 4, 2026, to March 10, 2026, a forecast of rainfall below normal levels concentrated in the northeast of the monitored region, over the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, the basins of the Branco, Coari, Curuá Una, Iriri, Jutaí, Mamoré, and Marañon rivers, the basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas and in the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará, the Napo, Negro, Tapajós, and Tefé rivers, and the main course of the Solimões River; no rainfall above the climatological average is forecast for the monitored region.
