Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 1998 a 2025. Between May 26 to June 24, 2026, rainfall below the climatological average resulted in a precipitation deficit along the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory, in the watersheds of the Iriri, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, and Jutaí rivers, in the left-bank watersheds of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Pará, and in the watersheds of the Napo, Tapajós, Tefé, and Xingu rivers; above-normal rainfall was recorded in the Curuá Una and Juruena river basins, as well as in the left-bank basins of the Amazon River in northeastern Amazonas State and northwestern Pará State; rainfall close to normal was recorded along the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, the river basins of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Beni, Branco, Coari, Guaporé, Içá, Japurá, Madeira, Mamoré, Marañon, Negro, Purus, Teles Pires, and Ucayali rivers, and the main course of the Solimões River. The multi-model indicates, for the period from June 24 to June 30, 2026, forecast of predominantly positive precipitation anomalies concentrated in the central and western parts of the monitored area, over the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian and Peruvian territory, and the watersheds of the Abacaxis, Branco, Coari, Içá, Japurá, Javari, Juruá, and Jutaí rivers, Madeira, and Marañon rivers; the left-bank basins of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas; the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará; the basins of the Napo, Negro, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, and Ucayali rivers; and the main course of the Solimões River.
