Legends

Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 1998 a 2025. Between August 18 to September 16, 2026, below-average rainfall resulted in a precipitation deficit along the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian and Peruvian territory, as well as in the watersheds of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Branco, Curuá Una, Içá, Iriri, and Japurá rivers, Ji-Paraná, and Juruá rivers; the left-bank basins of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas and the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará; and the Napo, Negro, Purus, and Tapajós river basins; above-normal rainfall recorded in the river basins of the Beni, Coari, Guaporé, and Mamoré rivers; near-normal rainfall recorded in the river basins of the Javari, Juruena, Jutaí, Madeira, Marañon, Tefé, Teles Pires, Ucayali, and Xingu rivers, as well as the main course of the Solimões River. The multi-model indicates, for the period from September 16 to September 22, 2026, forecast of predominantly negative precipitation anomalies across almost the entire monitored region; no positive precipitation anomalies are forecast for the monitored region; rainfall close to normal is forecast for the Beni, Guaporé, Içá, and Mamoré river basins.
