Legends

Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 1998 a 2025. Between September 1 to September 30, 2026, rainfall below climatological norms resulted in a precipitation deficit along the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, as well as in the watersheds of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Beni, Branco, Curuá Una, Içá, Iriri, and Japurá rivers, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, and Marañon rivers; the left-bank basins of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas and the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará; and the river basins of the Napo, Negro, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Ucayali, and Xingu rivers; above-normal rainfall recorded in the Coari, Guaporé, and Javari river basins; near-normal rainfall recorded along the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory, the Juruena, Jutaí, Madeira, Mamoré, and Teles Pires river basins, and the main course of the Solimões River. The multi-model indicates, for the period from September 30 to October 6, 2026, a forecast of negative precipitation anomalies over the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, the Abacaxis, Branco, Curuá Una, and Iriri river basins, the left- bank basins of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas, the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará, and the Negro and Tapajós river basins; Forecast of above-normal rainfall over the Coari, Guaporé, Juruena, and Tefé river basins; rainfall close to normal levels over the remaining river basins.
