Legends

Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 1998 a 2025. Between September 8 to October 7, 2026, rainfall below climatological norms resulted in a precipitation deficit along the main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian and Peruvian territory, as well as in the watersheds of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Beni, Branco, Curuá Una, Içá, Iriri, Japurá, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, Juruena, and Jutaí rivers, Madeira, and Marañon rivers; the left-bank basins of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas and the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará; the watersheds of the Napo, Negro, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Teles Pires, Ucayali, and Xingu rivers; and the main course of the Solimões River; above-normal rainfall recorded over the Guaporé River watershed; near-normal rainfall recorded over the Coari and Mamoré River watersheds. The multi-model indicates, for the period from October 7 to October 13, 2026, forecast of negative precipitation anomalies over nearly the entire basin, concentrated in the central and eastern parts of the monitored region; rainfall close to normal in the western part of the region near the Andean headwaters, along the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory, and in the watersheds of the Içá, Japurá, Javari, Marañon, Napo, and Ucayali rivers.
