Current conditions

Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2023. Between 26 de December and January 24, 2024, the rainfall pattern remains below climatology in almost the entire monitored area, with a precipitation deficit on the main course of the Amazon in Peruvian and Brazilian territory, the basins of the Aripuanã, Beni, Branco, Curuá Una, Guaporé, Içá, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, Juruena, Jutaí, Madeira, Mamoré, basins on the left bank of the Amazon in the northeast of the state of Amazonas, the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará, Napo, Negro, Purus, Teles Pires, Ucayali, Xingu and the main course of the Solimões. The Abacaxis, Iriri, Japurá, Marañon and Tefé river basins with observed rainfall close to the climatology for the period, and positive rainfall anomalies characterizing the Coari and Tapajós river basins. The sub-seasonal multi- model forecast indicates a predominant rainfall deficit in the north of the monitored area over the next 2 weeks and excess rainfall over the river basins located in the south of the state of Pará and the north of the state of Mato Grosso.
