Maps of observed precipitation conditions, individual graphics by basin are produced from MERGE/GPM data generated by INPE/CPTEC, considering the period from de 2000 a 2023. Between March 12 and April 10, 2024, the rainfall pattern remains below climatological levels over a large part of the monitored area, with a rainfall deficit over the main course of the Amazon River in Peruvian territory, the watersheds of the Beni, Branco, Coari, Guaporé, Içá, Japurá, Javari, Ji-Paraná, Juruá, Juruena, Jutaí, Mamoré, Marañon, basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast and northwest of the state of Pará, Napo, Negro, Purus, Tapajós, Tefé, Teles Pires, Ucayali and the main course of the Solimões River. The main course of the Amazon River in Brazilian territory, the basins of the Abacaxis, Aripuanã, Curuá Una, Madeira and Xingu rivers and the basins on the left bank of the Amazon River in the northeast of the state of Amazonas, alternating areas with positive and negative anomalies, were considered to have observed rainfall close to the climatology for the period, and the Iriri River basin was characterized as having rainfall above the climatology for the period. The multi-seasonal forecast model indicates a reduction in the rainfall deficit in the southern part of the monitored area, with an increase in rainfall and, in the north of the region, an increase in the rainfall deficit in the coming weeks.
